Podcast Guest: Jason Hoffman, CEO MobiledgeX

Jason Hoffman is the Chairman and CEO of MobiledgeX, a Deutsche Telekom subsidiary focused on edge computing. Previously he was a CTO at Ericsson AB and was P&L responsible for their cloud and datacenter infrastructure business. While at Ericsson his group created the world’s first hyperscale, disaggregated system and led the market in the modernization of telecom infrastructure. Prior to Ericsson, he was a founder and the CTO at Joyent (now owned by Samsung), a pioneering high performance cloud IaaS and software provider, where he ran product, engineering, operations and commercial management for a decade. Joyent launched the world’s first container-as-a-service offering in 2004, the most popular asynchronous runtime (node.js) in 2009, the most secure KVM-based VMs in 2009 and the world’s first serverless offering in 2013. He is considered to be one the pioneers of large scale cloud computing, in particular the use of container technologies, asynchronous, high concurrency runtimes and converged server, storage and networking systems. Jason is also an angel investor, strategy and execution advisor, venture and private equity advisor and has served on the boards of companies and foundations.

Jason has a BS and MS from UCLA and a PhD from UCSD. He lives in the Bay Area with his wife and children.

Duncan is a serial entrepreneur and pioneer with thirty years’ experience in the software industry.

He founded Cloudsoft Corporation, creator of the Apache Brooklyn open source project, serving as its CEO for nine years. Previously he was founder and CTO of Enigmatec Corporation which was sold to iWave and subsequently acquired by EMC.

Podcast Guest: Simon Crosby, CTO SWIM.AI

Simon Crosby brings an established record of technology industry success, most recently as co-founder and CTO of Bromium, a security technology company. At Bromium, Simon built a highly secure virtualized system to protect applications. Prior to Bromium, Crosby was the co-founder and CTO of XenSource before its acquisition by Citrix, and later served as the CTO of the Virtualization and Management Division at Citrix. Previously, Crosby was a principal engineer at Intel. Crosby was also the founder of CPlane, a network-optimization software vendor. Simon has been a tenured faculty member at the University of Cambridge. Simon Crosby was named one of InfoWorld’s Top 25 CTOs in 2007.

Matt Trifiro leads the company’s global marketing, branding and communications. He is a technology industry veteran and a serial entrepreneur, having co-founded or led over a half dozen startup companies. Prior to joining Vapor IO, he was entrepreneur in residence at Xseed Capital and chief marketing officer and senior vice president at Mesosphere. At Mesosphere, he created a new industry category, the Datacenter Operating System, and helped the organization grow from a seed stage startup to a full-scale operating company, generating significant revenue. Prior to Mesosphere, Trifiro was chief marketing officer at Heroku, a division of Salesforce, and prior to that he served as senior vice president of marketing for Salesforce Desk.com. He was also a co-founder and CEO of e-commerce startup 1000 Markets (sold to Bonanza) and co-founder and vice president of marketing for interactive television pioneer Wink Communications (NASDAQ IPO). He currently holds advisory roles with venture-funded startups Buoyant and ListenLoop.
